Welcoming July: Highlights from June and Summer Plans 🩴🌞
Reflecting on a Busy June and Embracing the Summer Slowdown
Happy July!
Summer is in full swing and since a lot of my work and collaborations are in Europe and we like to take time for ourselves, some of my projects are slowing down and I am finding myself with a little more space to pause and play.
Yay! 🎊😀
ICYMI: June Recap
June was a pretty full month for me and I want to acknowledge some of the lovely things that happened before I step into the next 31 days.
I don’t know if it’s because I live in the moment (haha, joke, I have anxiety) or if I have the memory of a fruit fly, but I had to reach for my journal and camera roll to remember what I was doing at the beginning of June.
🖼️Postcards from June
I enjoy taking a few moments to be reminded of the incredible things that have happened and gotten me to today.
I am still breathing, I am here, I am alive. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
A few highlights:
Chats with the kitty (still no name).
Time with loved ones.
Novel writing time in coffee shops & local libraries.
Getting back on the ice.
Sharing Trauma-informed & Accessible yoga techniques with the 2024 cohort of Sun Yoga’s YTT.
🧘🏾5 in 5 Yoga Challenge Feedback
In June I also launched the 5 in 5 Yoga Challenge which was an incredible week of community-building and reconnecting to ourselves and the yoga practice, starting with just 5 minutes a day for 5 days.
Some of the folks who participated said:
“This was an enjoyable addition to my morning routine! I hopped on my mat after doing my morning meditation and stretch from bed all the while in my comfy pajamas. It was just the wake-up my body needed. Thanks Laia!” Susan.
“What a lovely way to start the day. thank you! Amazing what can happen in 5 mins. Wonderful.” Meta
“Just finished day five and managed to do each one 🥰 my favourite was day 3 - Pause. I felt that the movements of the practice were just right for me. Thank you for doing this challenge! I enjoyed it 😁” Adelaide.
“I cheated and did all 5 together today, but I needed it badly and these videos were so wonderful!! Thank you 💗” Rose G.
Thank you all for the love!

Returning to Summer Habits
This season is about embracing the sunshine, longer days, slowing down, and exploring habits that nourish your body and mind and support your energy.
If you’re someone from the US, this might be hard to imagine, but in Catalonia, and I’d dare say most of Spain, many folks take a few weeks off in the Summer, setting everything aside and getting away from daily life.
Whether you’re able to get away, have a short staycation, or you’re routine doesn’t change drastically this time of year, I invite you to embrace the energy of the season and find spaces to slow down.
This prioritization of time off during Summer allows more space to explore activities that you may have had no time for and used to love and explore new ones you haven’t found the space for yet.
✍🏾Journaling Exercise:
Write down a list of activities that you enjoyed in the past and no longer engage in, and another list of activities you’ve never tried but would love to.
See if you can choose at least one to do this July!
Remember, this may mean replacing a habit or activity you currently do to make space for a new one. For example: you may have to give up before bed scrolling to create space to read a book.
It’s all about choices.
Here are a few of my favorite Summer activities if you need inspiration:
Beach strolls
Picnics
Kayaking
Reading a book outdoors
Riding bicycles
Making homemade lemonade
Playing board games or making a puzzle
Time in nature
Making a new playlist
Going to an art or music festival
Coffee with friends
Gardening
What activity are you excited to try out most, whether a new experience or an old love?
Staying Active and Having Fun This Summer
Although finding space to chill in this season is important, it also matters to stay balanced and moving physically, mentally, and energetically.
Here are some resources:
🤓Live Productivity Sessions
Have you ever joined an online productivity or coworking session?
It is a great way to get some work done and connect to others. I utilize the techniques of Pomodoro sprints and body doubling to stay present and get shit done.
You could also use this time to grab your Summer read, knit, or record your podcast.
Here is a replay of my first Livestream Productivity Session last week, it was so fun and fruitful!
The next session is today, Wednesday, July 3rd at 9:00 am EST (15:00 CET).
I can’t promise it will be stormy but I can promise you a good time. 💛
🤸🏾♀️Fun Flow for Strength & Flexibility
Strengthen and stretch your body with this 30-minute yoga flow.
In this class, which I taught live last week on Insight Timer, we’ll focus on a series of poses targeting the legs, hips, and lower back with a pinch of Summer fun.
I will be offering options and variations for you to choose what you need. If you have yoga blocks, bring them along for even more accessibility!

Love 💛
Yes, June was all celebrations for my family. Now looking for the lazy fun days of summer.
You could name your cat Namaste. That way, when he's feeling all Tabby like, you can scream Namaste. It will get his attention and you will instantly be grounded. Win-Win. Namaste, Laia.
