Six things that make me feel good
A few everyday joys to help you reconnect with the present.
Hello and welcome to The Pause. 💛
These past few weeks have been truly beautiful… the publication and presentation of my novel, as well as the first conversations with readers, have filled me with joy.
After this whirlwind of emotions, I’ve been trying to create a bit of structure again while also returning to calm and to myself, through small actions and rituals that help me feel grounded once more.
This week, I don’t have a big reflection or an epiphany to share, but something simpler: six small things that have been making me feel good lately, helping me reconnect with myself after such full and emotional days.
Maybe one of them will inspire you to find your own everyday joys. 🌿
Reading every day: The truth is, lately I’ve been spending more time on social media: promoting the novel, replying to comments, and, if I’m honest, scrolling more than I should. That’s why I’m making myself read a little every day: one chapter of a book in the morning and one before bed. It really helps me spend less time in front of a screen and disconnect a bit from the outside world.
Going for walks: Walking is one of my favourite things in the world, especially when I’m in a place where I can see interesting streets and people. Walking is good for physical health, of course, but it’s also essential for maintaining emotional and mental balance. So every day I go out for a little walk, ideally without a destination — simply because I can.
Spending time with friends: These days, it can be hard to find time to meet up (whether in person or virtually), especially when our lives are so full. But prioritizing time with my friends and chatting for a while, even briefly, is one of the things that makes me happiest in the world.
Listening to music: If there’s one thing that can instantly change my mood, it’s music. When I’m in a bad mood, I play Figa Flawas; when I need focus, Deep House; and when I want to relax a little, Valeria Castro: her songs always hit me right. And sometimes I listen to a bit of everything.
Here’s the playlist I created for ‘Saber tornar’:
Practicing yoga or moving a little every day: Even if it’s only for a few minutes, I try to listen to my body and give it what it needs. Sometimes it’s a short stretching session before I start writing; other times I take my mat outside and do a few sun salutations while enjoying the morning air.
Pausing to breathe: These days, I’m also giving myself permission to do not do much at all. To pause and breathe, to make a cup of tea while I watch the sunrise… simple things we rarely give enough importance to, but that help us return to the present and feel well.
Writing Saber tornar has taught me to celebrate the small things, and this week, we’re also celebrating something pretty big: the book’s release.
If you’d like to win a copy of the novel, I’m hosting a giveaway on Instagram! 💛 You can join until Monday, October 27th.

I feel good, relaxed… and it’s all thanks to these little spaces I create where I can reconnect with myself.
And you? What small things have been making you feel good lately? Tell me in the comments… I’d love to read them. 💛
That’s all for today, my dear.
Until we meet again, pause often, breathe deeply, and be kind… especially to yourself.
Much love,
Laia.
