Spring began on March 20th in the Northern Hemisphere, and no matter if it reflects or not in the weather, I can feel the energy shift.
Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth, and it's the perfect time to get re-inspired and tap into the creative part of yourself that may have been dormant throughout the winter, giving you an opportunity to rest and recharge.
Journaling is a great way to reflect on your thoughts and feelings, and it can also be a helpful tool for realigning yourself with your values and learning new tools for growth and self-evolution.
I have been journaling from a young age and I love to write everything down; whether it’s the grocery list, outlining my next article, or dumping all the rubbish out of my brain and onto my morning pages: writing to me is catharsis.
I have notebooks filled with yoga sequences and themes, others with doodles, novel plotting, and of course my daily journaling. I also keep a small green spiral journal in the top drawer of my nightstand that only comes out sometime around the Solstices and Equinoxes, meaning four times a year.
In it, I use journaling prompts to reconnect to myself, take a moment of gratitude for my path, shake some sh*t out, and begin to cultivate inspiration and motivation to move forth.
Here are the journaling prompts I used this time around to reconnect to myself as we enter my favorite time of year.
So if you’d like to, grab yourself a cup of tea or coffee, find a cozy spot and your favourite notebook and pen, and free-write (or meditate if you rather) on some of these.
Try to be as honest and as raw with yourself as you can:
What is one thing/person/place/practice that supported you in the last season? Take some time to reflect on something you’re grateful for in your life. This could be anything, anyone, or anywhere.
Consider the people and places that feel like a warm, cozy hug and that supported you through the dark Winter, and how you’ll continue to make space for the things in your life that feel good.
What is one thing/person/place/practice that you want to shed or let go of? Take some time to be grateful for something, someone, or someplace that served you through a season of your life and now feels complete.
Give yourself a few moments to breathe, as you start to let go, even if just for a moment. Remember that to make space for the new, we must let go of what no longer serves us.
What is one new ritual/practice/habit you’d like to bring into this new season? Take some time to journal about something you’ve been wanting to start but haven’t yet. It could be a course, or a class you want to take, or a healthy habit you want to incorporate.
Consider in which way you can start VERY gently, taking small steps daily to find alignment with what you want.
These are just a few ideas for journaling prompts to help you get reinspired at this time of year, or whenever you feel like you need a pause to realign.
There are many other prompts you could use, so feel free to be creative and find what works best for you.
Journaling is a great way to explore your thoughts and feelings, and it can also be a helpful tool for connecting to more creativity and play in your life.
And speaking of fun, here is a playlist I curated for this season so that you can use it to practice yoga, go for a stroll, or wash your dishes.
Happy Spring, dear humans.
